Greetings all! As your college bound senior has hopefully settled into their high school routine, it will soon be time to finish up college admission applications and certainly think about the college financing process. In order to help keep you on track with regard to applying for financial aid for the upcoming academic year 2012-13, I wanted to remind families that many private colleges will require families to complete the CSS Profile Form. This form is required by many PRIVATE colleges (not state colleges) and the complete list of colleges that require this financial aid form is on the College Board’s website. If a college requires this document, it will need to be completed online at their site and the form will be available on October 1, 2012, per their website. You will need to register, pay, and complete the form all online. Any students that do not have computer access should see their guidance counselor for assistance.
More info about this financial aid form can be found on our site as well as links to the online application at the College Board. Remember! It is important to complete financial aid applications on time, so be sure to check with colleges to see what documents they require.
In addition to checking with colleges about financial aid deadlines, check out Financial Aid Sense. This newly updated financial aid publication is a vital resource about financial aid, scholarship searches, and college financing in general. Since the information is presented to families in a workbook style publication, readers can follow along and use the included templates to stay organized and chart their progress throughout the process.
